Toronto Argonauts Form
Toronto enter the 2025 regular season as they defending champions following last year’s Grey Cup victory.
The Argonauts blew hot and cold for much of the regular season, but a three-game win streak late in the campaign was enough to secure playoff football.
They started the postseason with a 58-38 victory at home to Ottawa, before heading out on the road to down Montreal 30-28.
Toronto then claimed the Canadian football championship by beating Winnipeg 41-24 in the Grey Cup last November.
The Argonauts warmed up for their defence of the title by bouncing back from a 24-16 loss in Hamilton with a 30-23 victory at home to the Tiger-Cats.
Montreal Alouettes Form
Montreal go into the new season looking to better their 2024 performance, which saw them lose in the East Final of the playoffs.
The Alouettes raced out of the blocks with a five-game win streak, and then rebounded from a first loss with another five-game tear.
That 10-1 start ultimately secured their place in the postseason, despite them winning just two of their final seven regular season outings.
Montreal received a first-round bye, but would prove to be ‘one-and-done’ in the playoffs as they lost 30-28 at home to Toronto in the East Final.
The Alouettes now enter the 2025 opener having gone 1-1 in pre-season, losing 23-8 at home to Ottawa before beating the Redblacks 24-16 on the road.
