San Diego Padres at Los Angeles Dodgers Preview & Picks

Who will win the first game of this big NL West series?

Check back here on Friday morning for our free San Diego Padres at Los Angeles Dodgers tips.

Head To Head

  • Los Angeles Dodgers lead the all-time series 535-434-1
  • San Diego Padres won 5-3 when the two teams last met on June 19

San Diego Padres Form

San Diego enter this series having surged to the top of the NL West by winning nine of their 12 games so far this month.

The Padres kicked off August with a 4-1 win at home to St Louis, and then rebounded from an 8-5 loss to the Cardinals with a 7-3 victory.

They then went out on the road briefly and responded to a 6-2 defeat in Arizona with 10-5 and 3-2 victories over the Diamondbacks.

San Diego returned home for a three-game series to end last week, and they again bounced back quickly from a series-opening loss as they rallied from a 10-2 defeat to Boston with 5-4 and 6-2 wins.

The Padres then kept that winning run going on the road, as they swept the Giants in San Francisco, 4-1, 5-1 and 11-1, to extend their streak to five games.

Los Angeles Dodgers Form

Los Angeles return home in need of a victory, having lost four straight games to surrender top spot in the NL West.

The Dodgers opened August on the road, sandwiching a 4-0 defeat to Tampa Bay with 5-0 and 3-0 wins over the Rays.

They then returned home for back-to-back series, and made a disappointing start to that run of games at Dodger Stadium as they lost 3-2 and 5-3 either side of a 12-6 win over St Louis.

Los Angeles fared better against Toronto as they took the opening two games 5-1 and 9-1, but they have not won since.

The Dodgers dropped the series finale 5-4, before heading out on the road to lose 7-4, 7-6 and 6-5 to the Los Angeles Angels.
