Alexander Volkanovski is the UFC featherweight champion with a professional record of 25-2 (12 KOs, 3 Subs).
Volkanovski comes into this fight on the back of a loss, but he has been in tremendous form since arriving in the UFC back in 2016.
He quickly reeled off five consecutive wins to make an impact in the featherweight division, and claimed his first notable scalp in 2018 when he stopped Chad Mendes with strikes in round two.
‘The Great’ then bested Jose Aldo over five rounds to land himself a shot at the featherweight title.
Volkanovski took his chance, beating Max Holloway by unanimous decision, and when the two men met again he came out on top once more, this time winning by split decision.
The 34-year-old Australian then successfully defended his belt with a unanimous decision win over Brian Ortega, before stopping ‘The Korean Zombie’ with strikes in the fourth round.
That set up a trilogy bout with Max Holloway in July 2022, and yet again Volkanovski had his hand raised via unanimous decision.
However, in his most recent outing, the featherweight champion suffered the first defeat of his career.
Volkanovski came up short in his attempt to become a two-weight world champion, losing a lightweight title fight with Islam Makhachev via unanimous decision.
Yair Rodriguez Form

Rodriguez quickly made an impression after signing with the UFC in 2014, stringing together five straight wins to climb the ladder.
A second-round TKO win against BJ Penn earned him a fight with former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar, but his streak came to an end in that via doctor’s stoppage.
‘El Pantera’ looked to be on his way to defeat in his next fight too, only for him to uncork a spectacular elbow strike that knocked out ‘The Korean Zombie’ in the very last second of the fight.
Rodriguez failed to build on that win as an accidental eye poke resulted in a No Contest in his fight with Jeremy Stephens.
The two men did fight a month later though, and this time Rodriguez had his hand raised after a three-round scrap.
The 30-year-old Mexican was rewarded with a fight against former champion Max Holloway, and although the two men put on a show, Rodriguez came out on the losing side after five rounds.
His next fight saw him beat Brian Ortega by TKO, after the American suffered a fight-ending injury, and that put Rodriguez right back in the title picture.
Back in February he fought Josh Emmett for the interim featherweight title, and in the second round of the contest he tapped out the American to claim the belt.
Verdict
Volkanovski has shown countless times that he knows how to deal with fighters like Rodriguez.
The blueprint that brought successes against Aldo, Holloway, Ortega and Zombie is likely to serve him well against the Mexican.
