Merab Dvalishvili Form

Merab Dvalishvili is the reigning UFC bantamweight champion with a professional record of 19-4 (3 KOs, 1 Sub).

Dvalishvili signed with the UFC in late 2017 and got off to a rough start as he dropped a decision to Frankie Saenz before losing to Ricky Simon via submission.

He finally registered his first victory for the promotion in September 2018, beating Terrion Ware on points, and that proved to be the start to a 12-fight surge that propelled him to the top of the division.

‘The Machine’ fought once in 2019, beating Brad Katona on points, before reeling off three decision wins in 2020, downing Casey Kenney, Gustavo Lopez and John Dodson.

Dvalishvili then began 2021 with a points victory over Cody Stamann, before finally registering his first stoppage win in the UFC as he knocked out Marlon Moraes in the second round.

He has not stopped an opponent since then, but he has continued to stack up the victories.

The 34-year-old Georgian’s sole 2022 outing saw him beat the legendary Jose Aldo, and in 2023 he extended his win streak further with a victory over ex-UFC champion Petr Yan.

Dvalishvili then stepped up his activity in 2024, fighting no less than three times as he completed his rise to the summit.

He out-point Henry Cejudo to earn a title shot, and then dethroned Sean O’Malley before successfully defending the crown with a decision win over Umar Nurmagomedov.

Sean O’Malley Form

Sean O’Malley is a former bantamweight champion and the number x ranked contender with a career record of 18-2 (12 KOs, 1 Sub) with 1 No Contest.

O’Malley first signed with the UFC in 2017, after a successful appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series, and he got off to a fast start.

He beat Terrion Ware on points in his debuted, and backed that up with a decision victory over Andre Soukhamthath.

The 30-year-old American would not fight again for another two years, but when he returned to action he made up for lost time with first-round knockouts of Jose Alberto Quinonez and Eddie Wineland.

O’Malley’s win streak was finally brought to an end by a first-round knockout loss at the hands of Marlon Vera, but he rebounded quickly.

‘Suga’ reeled off three straight knockout victories as he stopped Thomas Almeida and Kris Moutinho in the third, and Raulian Paiva in the first.

His run was ended by the No Contest caused by an accidental eye poke in his fight with Pedro Munhoz, but that did not derail his rise to the top of the bantamweight division.

O’Malley earned himself a title shot with his split decision victory over Petr Yan, and he then took his big chance in the summer of 2023 as he knocked out Aljamain Sterling in the second round.

He enjoyed a successful defence of that crown in March 2024, as he avenged a previous loss to Marlon Vera.

However, the American was knocked off his perch in his next outing, as he dropped a unanimous decision to Merab Dvalishvili last September.

Verdict

Merab Dvalishvili has been on a relentless tear, breaking down opponent after opponent.

His incredible cardio and world class wrestling is backed to lead him to another points win here.
