Renato Moicano vs Chris Duncan Predictions & Picks

Chris Duncan is tipped to win this main event fight via stoppage.

Duncan throws with a little more reckless abandon than Moicano, but that aggression can allow him to set up the takedowns that lead to a finish on the mat.

  • 11 of Chris Duncan’s 15 career wins have been by stoppage
  • Renato Moicano has lost his previous 2 fights
  • Chris Duncan lands 3.27 takedowns per 15 minutes

Renato Moicano Form

Renato Moicano is the number 10 ranked lightweight contender with a professional record of 20-7 (2 KOs, 10 Subs) with 1 draw.

Moicano debuted in the UFC back in December 2014 but did not start fighting regularly for the promotion until 2017, when he began competing twice a year.

He went 3-1 between 2017 and 2018, only to see his climb up the lightweight ladder come to a shuddering halt when he was knocked out by Jose Aldo in the second round and by the ‘Korean Zombie’ in the first round in 2019.

The 36-year-old Brazilian rallied with a 44-second submission of Damir Hadzovic, and then responded to a first-round knockout loss to Rafael Fiziev with second-round submissions of Jai Herbert and Alexander Hernandez.

Moicano failed to make it four-in-a-row as he dropped a decision to Rafael dos Anjos, but he bounced back later that year by tapping out Brad Riddell in the first.

Then, in 2024, he backed up a points win over Drew Dober with second-round stoppages of Jailin Turner and Benoit Saint Denis, earning a shot at the lightweight title in January 2025.

‘Money Moicano’ came up short as he was submitted in the first by Islam Makhachev, and later that year he dropped a unanimous decision to Beneil Dariush.

Chris Duncan Form

Chris Duncan enters this fight with a professional record of 15-2 (7 KOs, 4 Subs) – a record that has him on the brink of a place in the lightweight rankings.

Duncan landed in the UFC in 2023 after a successful second appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series, and he was able to out-point Omar Morales and Yanal Ashmouz in his first two outings.

The 32-year-old Scotsman failed to make it three-in-a-row as he was submitted by Manuel Torres in February 2024, but he has not lost since.

He got back on track with a first-round submission win over Bolaji Oki, and in his first outing of 2025 he backed that up by tapping out Jordan Vucenic in the second round.

Duncan fought twice more last year – with successful results – out-pointing Mateusz Rebecki in three rounds before submitting Terrance McKinney in the 150 seconds.

Verdict

Renato Moicano has experience on his side, but Chris Duncan’s aggression can be the difference here.

He can out-strike Moicano, get this fight to the canvas and score his fourth stoppage win in the space of five fights.
