Tatsuro Taira is the number six ranked flyweight contender with a professional record of 16-1 (5 KOs, 7 Subs).
Taira debuted in the UFC in May 2022 and enjoyed a successful first outing as he beat Carlos Candelario on points.
He then started to make a splash as he won back-to-back performance honors, submitting CJ Vergara in the second round and Jesus Santos Aguilar in the first.
His rise continued with a points win over Edgar Chavez, and the then stopped Carlos Hernandez with strikes in the second round of their December 2023 fight.
Taira’s UFC win streak reached six fights with a TKO win over Alex Perez in June of last year, but he was unable to make it seven in a row.
The Japanese fighter suffered his first UFC defeat last October, as he dropped a split decision to Brandon Royval in the Fight of the Night.
Hyun Sung Park Form
Hyun Sung Park is an unranked flyweight fighter with a professional record of 10-0 (4 KOs, 5 Subs).
Park earned his place in the UFC by taking part in the Road to UFC tournament, where he knocked out Jeremia Siregar in the first round and submitted Topnoi Kiwram in the first.
He then marked his debut with another stoppage victory, as he submitted Seung Guk Choi in the third round.
The 29-year-old South Korean then backed that up with a second-round knockout of Shannon Ross in December of 2023.
Park did not fight in 2024, but when he returned to action in May he submitted Carlos Hernandez in the first round.
Verdict
A late change in opponent is hardly ideal for Tatsuro Taira, but we expect him to rise to the occasion.
He has established himself as a legitimate flyweight contender and can maintain that status with a victory here.
