Tom Aspinall Form

Tom Aspinall is the reigning and defending UFC heavyweight champion with a professional record of 15-3 (12 KOs, 3 Subs).

Aspinall made his UFC debut in July 2020 and quickly climbed the ladder with a string of stoppage victories.

He knocked out Jake Collier in 46 seconds in his debut, and then took just 95 seconds to finish Alan Baudot with strikes.

The 32-year-old Englishman the submitted former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski in the second, before needed just one round to knock out Serghei Spivac.

Aspinall then submitted Alexander Volkov in the first round, only to see his streak end in July 2022 when he suffered a serious injury just seconds into a fight with Curtis Blaydes, and lost by TKO.

He made up for lost time a year later when he returned to action and knocked out Marcin Tybura in just 73 seconds.

The English heavyweight then claimed the interim title when he knocked out Sergei Pavlovich just 69 seconds into the contest.

Aspinall successfully retained the interim title with a 60-second knockout of Curtis Blaydes, before finally being upgraded to full championship status following Jon Jones’ retirement.

Ciryl Gane Form

Ciryl Gane is a former interim UFC heavyweight champion with a professional record of 13-2 (6 KOs, 3 Subs).

Gane entered the UFC in August 2019 having had just three professional fights, but he quickly made a splash with submission wins over Raphael Pessoa and Don’Tale Mayes.

He then beat Tanner Boser on points, before knocking out former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos in the second round.

The 35-year-old Frenchman then beat Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Alexander Volkov on points to earn himself a shot at the interim title.

Gane claimed the interim crown in the summer of 2021 as he knocked out Derrick Lewis in the third round.

However, ‘Bon Gamin’ failed to claim the full heavyweight title, as he dropped a decision to Francis Ngannou in January of 2022.

He rebounded to knock out Tui Tuivasa in the third round, but again failed to win the UFC heavyweight crown as he was submitted in 124 seconds by Jon Jones.

Gane has not lost since though, backing up a second-round knockout of Serghei Spivac with a split decision success against Alexander Volkov.

Verdict

Tom Aspinall has been on a dominant run at heavyweight and is fully focused on the game.

Ciryl Gane, on the other hand, is winding down his career and has other interests, and that spells trouble against the English fighter, who has a ruthless knack for finishing opponents.
