The night’s action in Newark is headlined by a fight for the UFC lightweight title between Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier.
Makhachev completed his rise to the top of the 155lb division in October 2022 when he submitted Charles Oliveira in the second round.
He made two successful defences of that crown last year, beating Alexander Volkanovski by unanimous decision before leaving no doubt in the rematch, winning via first-round knockout.
In Poirier he is facing an extremely experienced opponent who has fought a who’s who of fighters during his career.
‘Diamond’ boasts two TKO victories over Conor McGregor, both recorded in 2021, and although he has fought for the lightweight title twice, he has never ruled over this weight class.
