Virna Jandiroba is the number one ranked strawweight contender with a professional record of 22-3 (1 KO, 14 Subs).
Jandiroba debuted in the UFC in April 2019, boasting a perfect 14-0 record, but endured a disappointing first outing as she was beaten on points by Carla Esparza.
She rebounded later that year with a second-round submission of Mallory Martin, and backed that up in the summer of 2020 as she submitted Felice Herrig in the first.
The 37-year-old Brazilian failed to make it three-in-a-row as she dropped a decision to Mackenzie Dern, and she was then unable to back up a TKO success against Kanako Murata as she lost on points to Amanda Ribas.
Jandiroba has not lost since that October 2021 defeat though, embarking on a five-fight win streak that propelled her to the top of the rankings.
She got back on track with a unanimous decision win over Angela Hill, and followed that up with further points successes against Manna Rodriguez and Loopy Godinez.
‘Carcara’ then submitted Amanda Lemos in the second round, before starting this year with a decision victory over Yan Xiaonan.

Mackenzie Dern is the number five ranked strawweight contender with a career record of 15-5 (8 Subs).
Dern entered the UFC in 2018 with a perfect 5-0 record, and made a successful start as she beat Ashley Yoder on points before submitting Amanda Cooper in the first.
She suffered her first setback in 2019 as she dropped a decision to Amanda Ribas, but she responded to that loss with a run of four consecutive wins.
The 32-year-old American submitted both Hannah Cifers and Randa Markos in the first round, before backing up a decision win over Virna Jandiroba with a first-round tapout of Nina Nunes.
Dern’s surge was halted in October 2021 though, as she lost on points to Marina Rodriguez, and she went on to win just two of her next five fights.
She sandwiched a majority decision defeat to Yan Xiaonan with points wins over Tecia Torres and Angela Hill, only to then lose via TKO to Jessica Andrade and on points to Amanda Lemos.
Dern got back to winning ways before the end of 2024 though, beating Loopy Godinez on points, and she backed that up in January of this year by submitting Amanda Ribas.
Verdict
Virna Jandiroba is on a better run, but Mackenzie Dern has the skills required to end that run.
