The Celtics opened up with a five-game win streak that was eventually ended by a narrow defeat in Philadelphia.
Their response was strong though, as they put together a season-best six-game win streak to establish themselves as the team to beat in the East.
Boston have not managed to match either of those win streaks since then, but they have continued to stack up victories.
The Celtics ended November with a three-game winning run, and they have already enjoyed a five-game win streak this month.
Los Angeles Lakers Form
Los Angeles have blown hot and cold during the first few months of the season, but they did make history earlier this month.
The Lakers became the first ever winners of the NBA Cup when they blew out New Orleans, 113-89, in the final on December 7.
That victory capped off a flawless run for them in the In-Season Tournament that saw them win all six games.
However, Los Angeles have been nowhere near as consistent in straight up regular season action.
The Lakers have enjoyed a few three-game win streaks, but they have not been able to put together the sort of run that would have put them among the front-runners in the Western Conference.
Verdict
Los Angeles have cooled off since their NBA Cup and that could spell trouble for them here.
