The Celtics went 57-25 in the 2022/23 regular season to finish just one game behind Milwaukee in the Eastern Conference.
That earned them home court advantage in the playoffs, but they made hard work of their first two series.
Boston needed six games to get past Atlanta and then to win the final two games of the series to edge Philadelphia 4-3.
The Celtics then fought back from 3-0 down to force Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Finals series against Miami, but that fightback was in vain as they lost the final meeting, at home, 103-84.
New York Knicks Form
New York head into their season opener looking to embark on another run to the postseason.
The Knicks went 47-35 during the 2022/23 regular season and that was enough to see them scrape into the playoffs.
They were underdogs for their first-round series against Cleveland, but they caused a splash with a 4-1 series success.
New York were unable to follow up that upset of the Cavaliers though, as they bowed out in the Eastern Conference semi-finals.
