Portland have undergone some massive changes to the roster after missing out on the playoffs last season.
The Trail Blazers went 33-49 to miss out on the postseason once again, and that was the catalyst for the changes.
The biggest news was the blockbuster trade that shook the NBA, with Damian Lillard being traded to Milwaukee as part of a three-team deal.
Portland acquired Jrue Holiday, Deandre Ayton and Toumani Camara as part of the trade, which also included Phoenix.
Holiday was then moved on to Boston as part of a trade that brought Malcolm Brogdon to the Trail Blazers.
LA Clippers Form
LA enter the 2023/24 campaign targeting the playoffs once again after failing at the first hurdle last season.
The Clippers went 44-38 during the regular season and that was enough for them to finish fifth in the Western Conference standings.
In the first round they were paired with a Phoenix team who finished just one game above them in the standings.
LA drew first blood in that series with a surprise 115-110 win in Phoenix in Game 1, but that was as good as it got for them.
The Clippers lost the second game 123-109, and then returned home for 129-124 and 112-100 defeats, before their season was ended by a 136-130 road loss.
Verdict
Portland have made massive changes in the offseason and need time to gel, so we expect LA to jump on them on opening night.
