Indiana Pacers Form

Indiana have the opportunity to open up a two-game lead in the NBA Finals before heading home for Games 3 and 4.

The Pacers made a dream start to the series as they snatched a 111-110 victory in Oklahoma City in Game 1 on Thursday night.

They entered the NBA Finals having won 12 of their 16 postseason games to eliminate Milwaukee, Cleveland and New York.

Indiana opened their playoff campaign with back-to-back home wins over Milwaukee, beating the Bucks 117-98 and 123-115.

The Pacers missed out on the sweep as they lost their road opener 117-101, but they rebounded quickly, wrapping up the series with a 129-103 road win and a 119-118 overtime victory at home.

They then took command of the second-round series with Cleveland, stunning the Cavaliers with back-to-back victories on the road, winning 121-112 and 120-119.

Indiana again lost Game 3 of a series, falling 126-104 at home, but they once again responded to a loss emphatically, clinching with a 128-109 home win and a 114-105 road victory.

The Pacers made a dream start to the Eastern Conference Finals too as they won back-to-back games in New York, beating the Knicks 138-135 in overtime and 114-109 in regulation.

Their theme of losing Game 3 continued as they lost 106-100 at home, but they were able to restore their two-game lead before heading back to New York, winning 130-121.

Indiana passed up on the opportunity to wrap up the series at Madison Square Garden, losing 111-94 in Game 5, but they would not be denied and sealed a 4-2 series success with a 125-108 victory at home.

Oklahoma City Thunder Form

Oklahoma City enter the second game of the NBA Finals in desperate need of a victory, having suffered a last-gasp home defeat in Game 1.

The Thunder gave up a last-second shot to Tyrese Haliburton on Thursday, condemning them to a 111-110 defeat at the hands of Indiana.

They came into the NBA Finals having also won 12 of their 16 postseason games, beating Memphis, Denver and Minnesota to reach the showpiece series.

Oklahoma City made a dominant start to the postseason as they swept Memphis in four games, winning 131-80 and 118-99 at home, and 114-108 and 117-115 on the road.

The Thunder failed to replicate that dominance in the early stages of the second round, as they sandwiched a 149-106 win over Denver with 121-119 and 113-104 (OT) defeats.

They bounced back to take the next two meetings with the Nuggets, 92-87 and 112-105, but failed to wrap up the series on the road as they were beaten 119-107 in Game 6.

That set up a huge winner-takes-all meeting in Oklahoma City, and the Thunder did not disappoint the home fans as they downed Denver 125-93 to advance.

The Thunder backed up that success in the early stages of the Western Conference Finals, as they took control of the series with Minnesota.

They had home advantage for the showdown with the Timberwolves and made it count as they took a 2-0 lead with 114-88 and 118-103 victories.

Oklahoma City missed out on a series sweep as they lost 143-101 in their first road game of the series, but they responded with 128-126 and 124-94 victories to secure their place in the NBA Finals.

Verdict

We expect Oklahoma City to knot up this series before they head to Indiana, but we are not convinced about their chances of covering the number in the process.

The Pacers are covering consistently on the road and as a double digit underdog, so give us the visitors and the free buckets in Game 2.
