They gained their revenge a couple of days later, beating the Trail Blazers 112-100 to finally get off the mark, but their joy was short-lived.
Memphis returned home to lose 108-102 to Miami, and then suffered a 127-121 defeat to Utah in their second tournament game.
The Grizzlies were able to halt that losing sequence on Sunday though, beating the LA Clippers 105-101 on the road.

The Lakers split their first four games of the season, bouncing back from road defeats with a win at home each time.
They ended October with a 106-103 win against Orlando, and then backed that up with a 130-125 overtime victory over the LA Clippers.
Los Angeles then went out on the road to lose 120-101 in Orlando, 108-107 at Miami and 128-94 in Houston, but they were able to finish that road trip on a positive note.
The Lakers beat Phoenix 122-119 to win their opening In-Season Tournament game, and they backed that up on Sunday when they returned home to beat Portland 116-110.
