The Timberwolves enjoyed a couple of lengthy win streaks prior to Christmas that allowed them to get out in front in the Western Conference.

Their form tailed off at the start of 2024 though, as they suffered three losses in a four-game spell.

Minnesota were beaten 112-106 in New York, before returning home for a 117-106 defeat at the hands of New Orleans.

The Timberwolves avoided a third straight loss with a 122-95 win in Houston, and then rebounded from a 115-108 loss at Dallas with a 113-92 win in Orlando.

Boston come into this game on the back of a loss, but on a good run of form that has put them top of the Eastern Conference.

The Celtics embarked on five-game and six-game win streaks as they won 11 of their final 12 games of 2023.

They started 2024 with a 127-123 defeat at Oklahoma City, but rebounded with a 126-97 blowout of Utah at home.

Boston then visited conference rivals Indiana for a double-header, and split the two meetings with the Pacers.

The Celtics took the first matchup, 118-101, on Saturday night, only to then suffer a 133-131 loss when the two teams met again on Monday.
