Minnesota head back to Denver having surrendered a two-game lead with back-to-back home defeats.
The Timberwolves, who put together a 56-26 regular-season record, made a statement in the first round of the playoffs.
They were able to sweep Phoenix in four games, following up 120-95 and 104-93 wins at home with 126-109 and 122-116 victories on the road.
Minnesota then made a sensational start to this series with Denver as they went out on the road to beat the defending champions 106-99 and 106-80.
However, the Timberwolves failed to build on that in either of their two home games, losing 117-90 and 115-107 last week.
Denver Nuggets Form
Denver head back home having recorded a couple of big road wins to level the series at 2-2.
The Nuggets, who went 57-25 in the regular season to finish second in the Western Conference, made routine progress through the first round.
They beat the Los Angeles Lakers 114-103, 101-99 and 112-105, before rebounding from a 119-108 defeat in LA with a series-clinching 108-106 victory.
Denver then found themselves in trouble early in this series, as they lost 106-99 and 106-80 at home to Minnesota in the first two games.
The Nuggets issued a strong response though, winning 117-90 and 115-107 at the Target Center to get back to 2-2 before returning home.
