Minnesota head to Houston on an excellent run of form since late December, having now won seven of their last nine games.
The Timberwolves began this sequence with a 136-101 blowout of Chicago on the road, before wrapping up 2025 with a 126-102 defeat in Atlanta.
They quickly put that behind them as they kicked off 2026 with a 125-115 success in Miami, before moving on to Washington to down the Wizards 141-115.
Minnesota then returned home to beat Miami 122-94 and Cleveland 131-122, but failed to make it five-in-a-row as they were then beaten 146-134 on the road by the Cavaliers.
The Timberwolves again issued an immediate response to a defeat, beating San Antonio 104-103 at home, and they backed that up in Milwaukee on Tuesday as they beat the Bucks 139-106.
Houston Rockets Form
Houston go into this match having been blown out at home last night – their fifth defeat in their previous seven games.
The Rockets enjoyed a good run in late December as a Christmas Day success at the Los Angeles Lakers proved to be the start of a three-game win streak to end the year.
They then kicked off 2026 with a 120-96 victory in Brooklyn, before rebounding from a 110-104 loss in Dallas with a 100-97 success against Phoenix.
Houston failed to build on that though as they dropped back-to-back games in Portland, 103-102 and 111-105, before heading to Sacramento to lose 111-98 to the Kings.
The Rockets briefly stopped the rot with a 119-113 victory at home to Chicago, only to then lose 111-91 to Oklahoma City last night.
Verdict
Houston have gone cold over the past several days and they are now playing just 24 hours after a rough home loss.
