Oklahoma City Thunder at Houston Rockets Preview & Picks

Houston are tipped to take down defending champions Oklahoma City at home.

The Thunder arrive in good form, but they do not have a good recent record at the Toyota Center and the Rockets have been getting the job done routinely at home.

  • Houston Rockets are 12-1 in their last 13 home games
  • Houston Rockets are 3-1 in the previous 4 meetings at home
  • The Over has cashed in each of the previous 3 meetings

Head To Head

  • Oklahoma City Thunder lead the all-time series 153-140
  • Oklahoma City Thunder won 125-124 in double overtime when the teams last met on October 21

Oklahoma City Thunder Form

Oklahoma City head out on a four-game road trip having won four straight games, and eight of the previous 10.

The Thunder responded to a Christmas Day defeat to San Antonio with a 129-104 win over Philadelphia, and that prove to be the start of a four-game run.

They beat Atlanta 140-129 and Portland 124-95 at home, and backed that up on the road as they downed Golden State 131-94.

Oklahoma City’s run was halted by a 108-105 loss at Phoenix and a 124-97 defeat at home to Charlotte, but they responded with a 129-125 overtime success against Utah.

Since then the Thunder have backed up that victory by beating Memphis 117-116 on the road, before heading home to beat Miami 124-112 and San Antonio 119-98.

Houston Rockets Form

Houston enter his matchup on the back of a victory, but in underwhelming form with four defeats in their previous six games.

The Rockets had enjoyed a solid run prior to the start of the year, as a 119-96 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers proved to be the start of a four-game win streak.

They went on beat Cleveland 117-100 and Indiana 126-119 at home, before heading out on the road to blow out Brooklyn, 120-96.

Houston then responded to a 110-104 loss in Dallas with a 100-97 home win against Phoenix, but they soon returned to losing ways as they fell 103-102 and 111-105 in Portland.

The Rockets’ skid reached three games with a 111-98 loss in Sacramento, but they rallied on Tuesday night to down Chicago 119-113 at home.

Verdict

Oklahoma City are the team in better form, but Houston’s overall form does not tell the full story.

The Rockets are on a strong run at home and they have tended to get the better of the Thunder at the Toyota Center over the past couple of seasons, so we are backing the hosts.
