Boise State earned their spot in the LA Bowl by winning nine games and claiming the Mountain West Conference crown.
The Broncos split a couple of non-conference games to start the season, before beating Air Force 49-37 on the road in their conference opener.
They then went 1-1 in another couple of non-conference games, before settling down to Mountain West action with wins over New Mexico, 41-25, UNLV, 56-31, and Nevada, 24-3.
Boise State’s quest for another conference crown suffered a setback as they then lost 30-7 to Fresno State and 17-7 at San Diego State, but they were able to turn it around.
The Broncos beat Colorado State 49-21 and Utah State 25-24, before clinching the Mountain West crown with a 38-21 victory over UNLV.
Washington Form
Washington secured their Bowl Game invite by winning eight of their 12 games during the regular season.
The Huskies reeled off three consecutive non-conference wins to start the season, but failed to transfer that form into their Big Ten opener as they lost 24-6 to Ohio State.
They rallied to beat Maryland 24-20 and Rutgers 38-19, only to then suffer a second conference defeat as they were beaten 24-7 at Michigan.
Washington responded with a 42-25 upset of Illinois, but were unable to back that up as they travelled to Wisconsin for a 13-10 loss to the Badgers.
The Huskies quickly returned to winning ways, beating Purdue 49-13 and UCLA 48-14, only to close out the regular season with a 26-14 defeat to Oregon.
