Pittsburgh head to Detroit having won back-to-back games to improve to 8-6 and stay atop the AFC North.
The Steelers enjoyed a strong start to the season as they won four of their first five games, only to cool off in the middle of October as they lost 33-31 at Cincinnati and 35-25 to Green Bay.
They rebounded with a 27-20 upset of Indianapolis, only to then lose 25-10 when they visited the Los Angeles Chargers.
Pittsburgh responded by beating Cincinnati 34-12, but they again failed to string together wins as they lost 31-28 in Chicago and 26-7 at home to Buffalo.
The Steelers have not lost since however, following up a big 27-22 win in Baltimore with a 28-15 victory at home to Miami last Monday night.
Detroit Lions Form
Detroit enter this matchup in desperate need of a victory, having lost four of their last seven games to lose ground in the NFC North.
The Lions responded to a season-opening defeat with a four-game win streak, but they have struggled since the 30-17 defeat at Kansas City in the first half of October.
They failed to build on a 24-9 victory over Tampa Bay as they lost 27-24 at home to Minnesota, and they were then unable to back up a 44-22 win at Washington as they lost 16-9 in Philadelphia.
Detroit again responded immediately to a loss, beating the New York Giants 34-27 in overtime, but they again failed to follow up a victory as they lost 31-24 to Green Bay.
The Lions’ inconsistency has continued over the past few weeks too, as they followed up a 44-30 win over Dallas with a 41-34 defeat at the Los Angeles Rams.
Verdict
Detroit have hardly been the model of consistency, but they have been solid at home and their run game can enjoy plenty of success in this one.
