Boston head to Buffalo having suffered their sixth defeat of the month just last night.
The Bruins started March with a 2-1 victory over Pittsburgh, but failed to build on that as they went on an inconsistent run of form over the next couple of weeks.
The responded to a 6-3 loss to Nashville with a 3-1 victory over Washington, and then rebounded from a 5-4 overtime defeat to Pittsburgh with a 2-1 overtime success against Los Angeles.
Boston were unable to back that up as they lost 4-2 to San Jose, and they then failed to follow up a 3-2 win at Washington as they lost overtime games against New Jersey, 4-3, and Montreal, 3-2.
The Bruins finally put together wins last week as they beat Winnipeg 6-1 and Detroit 4-2, only to start this week with a 4-2 home defeat to Toronto.
Buffalo Sabres Form
Buffalo enter this matchup on the back of a loss, but as one of the hottest teams in the NHL with 12 wins in their last 14 games.
The Sabres dropped back-to-back games at the start of February, but rebounded in emphatic fashion as they reeled off eight consecutive wins.
That was their second best run of the season so far, which was eventually ended by a 2-1 defeat when they played host to Washington.
Buffalo answered that loss with a 3-2 victory over Toronto, and then built on that as they went out on the road to down Vegas 2-0, San Jose 5-0 and Los Angeles 4-1.
The Sabres failed to make it five-in-a-row though, as they ended that road trip with a 6-5 overtime defeat in Anaheim.
Verdict
Buffalo came up short in overtime in Anaheim, but this is still one of the most in-form teams in the league right now.
