The Hurricanes endured a nightmare start to the series as they lost 5-2 to Florida on opening night, and things went from bad to worse on Thursday as they were beaten 5-0.
They entered this series having been on a dominant run in the postseason, winning eight of their first 10 games.
Carolina made a fast start as they beat New Jersey 4-1 and 3-1 to take control of that first-round series with the Devils.
The Hurricanes then bounced back from a 3-2 overtime loss on the road with a 5-2 victory in New Jersey, before clinching the series with a 5-4 overtime win at home.
They gained an early advantage in the second round too, as they went out on the road to beat Washington 2-1 in overtime.
Carolina lost 3-1 in second meeting, but responded by reeling off 4-0, 5-2, and 3-1 victories to wrap up the series in five games.

Florida return home having taken full command of this series with back-to-back wins in Carolina.
The Panthers made a dream start to the Eastern Conference Finals as they beat the Hurricanes 5-2, and they backed that up on Thursday with a 5-0 victory in Carolina.
They entered the conference finals on the back of a seven-game series with Toronto, and having gone 8-4 across the first two rounds of the postseason.
Florida made a dominant start as they went out on the road to win 6-2 and 2-0 at Tampa Bay.
The Panthers then responded to a 5-1 home loss with 4-2 and 6-3 wins to wrap up the series in five games.
They made a rough start to the second round as they lost back-to-back games in Toronto, 5-4 and 4-3, but they bounced back at home with 5-4 (OT) and 2-0 wins.
Florida then took the fifth game, 6-1 on the road, before bouncing back from a 2-0 home defeat with a series-clinching 6-1 win in Toronto.
Verdict
Florida are in complete control of this series following those two wins on the road.
Now they are back at home where they have been rock solid in recent times, so we have to stick with the Panthers in Game 3.
