The Avalanche ended 2023 and began 2024 with a four-game win streak, and they have not let up since then.
They rebounded from a loss to Florida with a shootout victory over Boston, followed by a 3-0 shutout of Vegas and a 5-3 win in Toronto.
Colorado then responded to a 4-3 defeat in Montreal with a 7-4 win when they visited Ottawa.
The Avalanche then lost 5-2 in Boston, but they have rebounded in strong fashion, following up a 7-4 win in Philadelphia with home victories over Washington, 6-2, and Los Angeles, 5-1.
New York Rangers Form
New York enter this matchup on the back of a win, but they went into the All-Star break in underwhelming form.
The Rangers have now lost eight of their last 12 games – a sequence that started with a four-game losing skid.
They stopped the rot with a 2-1 win over Washington, and backed that up with a 5-2 victory against Seattle.
New York failed to keep that run going though, as they went out on the road to lose 5-1 in Vegas and 2-1 in Los Angeles.
The Rangers then sandwiched a 3-2 overtime defeat to San Jose and a 5-2 home loss to Vegas with road wins against Anaheim, 5-2, and Ottawa, 7-2.

Colorado are the team in better form and have tended to have New York’s number in recent times, so we like the Avalanche as slight underdogs.
