The United States go into the Ice Hockey World Championship looking to end a gold medal drought in this competition that dates all the way back to 1960.
Last year they overcame a couple of group stage defeats to advance to the knockout stage, but their run was short-lived.
The USA were dumped out in the quarter-finals by eventual winners the Czech Republic, losing 1-0.
They go into this year’s tournament on the back of a victory over one of the favorites to win it all, Germany.
