Edmonton Oilers at Vegas Golden Knights Preview & Picks

Edmonton are tipped to take command of this playoff series.

While beating Vegas in back-to-back road games is a big ask, the Oilers are on a red-hot run right now and they have won their last two games in ‘Sin City’.

  • Edmonton Oilers are on a 5-game win streak
  • Edmonton Oilers are 2-0 in visits to Vegas this year
  • Vegas Golden Knights are 2-2 at home in the playoffs so far
  • 6 of the last 7 meetings have produced under 6.5 total goals

Head To Head

  • Edmonton Oilers lead the all-time series 17-13-2
  • Edmonton Oilers won 4-2 when the two teams last met on May 6

Edmonton Oilers Form

Edmonton go into the second game of this series already in a strong position, having won on the road in Game 1.

The Oilers opened this series in Vegas and scored four unanswered goals as they fought back beat the Golden Knights 4-2.

They claimed their place in the playoffs by putting together a 48-29-5 record, but they made a slow start to the postseason as they lost 6-5 and 6-2 in Los Angeles.

Edmonton issued an emphatic response though, as they reeled off four consecutive victories to wrap up the series.

The Oilers beat the Kings 7-4 in regulation and 4-3 in overtime at home, and then backed up a 3-1 road win with a 6-4 series-clinching success at home.

Vegas Golden Knights Form

Vegas enter this matchup looking for a much-needed victory that will knot up the series at 1-1 before they head out on the road.

The Golden Knights came into this series with home advantage, but failed to make the most of it as they were beaten 4-2 by Edmonton in Game 1.

They secured their spot in the playoffs by going 50-22-10 in the regular season to win their division, and they enjoyed a winning start to the playoffs as they beat Minnesota 4-2.

Vegas stumbled after that though, as they were beaten 5-2 at home and 5-2 on the road by the Wild.

The Golden Knights rallied with a 4-3 overtime success in Minnesota, and that proved to be the start of a three-game run that saw them clinch, with 3-2 victories at home and on the road getting the job done.

Verdict

Will Vegas really lose back-to-back playoff games in front of the home fans?

Given Edmonton’s recent visits to the T-Mobile Arena and their recent form overall, it would not be a major surprise.
