Monterrey couldn't continue their fine form in the semi-final as they were swatted aside in a 2-0 loss to Nashville.

Philadelphia just kept winning at the Leagues Cup as they triumphed in all five of their matches up to the semi-final of the competition.
Wins over Club Tijuana and Queretaro preceded wins on penalties against DC United and New York Red Bulls. They were then able to beat Queretaro once again as they edged to a 2-1 win in the quarter-finals. However, the semi-final proved to be a step too far for Philadelphia as they were hammered 4-1 by Inter Miami.
While no side has managed to stifle Lionel Messi, Philadelphia only hit the target with four of their 16 shots. Ultimately, Philadelphia were the architects of their own demise. They will need to get themselves back in the right mindset quickly if they are to secure third, with Monterrey likely to provide a real test.

Monterrey were unable to really trouble Nashville in their Leagues Cup semi-final as they failed to take that big step towards a major piece of silverware.
Prior to this, Monterrey had beaten Real Salt Lake, the Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers, U.N.A.L. Tigres and LAFC, with their last win particularly impressive.
However, it all came crashing down in a semi-final where they took 22 total shots, but only two hit the target. For all of their possession, Monterrey looked toothless, and they will need to change that in this one.
