There is little betting value on Stefanos Tsitsipas at very short odds given his recent inconsistency and fragile confidence. Meanwhile, Moez Echargui arrives in the form of his life over the past year and should also enjoy strong crowd support in Doha.

The underdog has enough momentum and belief to stay competitive, making him a solid option to cover the handicap and keep this clash closer than the odds suggest.

Tour Rookie Tests Tsitsipas

  • Moez Echargui is yet to win a main-draw match at tour-level events in his career.
  • Echargui is making his ATP Doha debut this week.
  • Stefanos Tsitsipas has won two of his three completed tour-level matches so far this season.
  • Tsitsipas’ most recent Doha appearance ended in a first-round exit in 2025.

Echargui Chases First Tour Breakthrough

Moez Echargui is coming off the best stretch of his career over the past year, compiling a strong run of wins on the lower circuits and building confidence with consistent results.

That momentum now needs to translate to the main tour, where he is still searching for a first real breakthrough. At 33, opportunities at tour level are limited, which makes this Doha appearance particularly significant.

He has made just one previous main-draw appearance at a tour-level event, in Metz a few weeks ago, where he pushed hard but ultimately fell in the opening round in two tight sets.

That match in Metz also marked the only time Echargui has faced a top-50 opponent in his career so far.

Tsitsipas Searching for Answers

Stefanos Tsitsipas has been on a gradual decline over the past few seasons, and that trend has continued into the early part of 2026.

He is producing results well below the level that once kept him firmly inside the top 10, and his confidence appears to be low as he struggles to string together consistent performances.

So far this season on the main tour, Tsitsipas has played five matches on the main tour and managed only a couple of wins, with some disappointing defeats to lower-ranked opponents.

His record in Doha offers limited reassurance as well. After a strong debut run to the quarterfinals in 2018, his most recent appearance here in 2025 ended in a first-round loss to an underdog, Hamad Medjedovic.

Verdict

Given Tsitsipas’ low odds despite his shaky form and uncertain confidence on court, there is little appeal in backing him outright. With Moez Echargui playing some of the best tennis of his career and likely to stay competitive, the value looks to be on the underdog in the handicap games market to keep this match closer than expected.
