Quentin Halys and Kamil Majchrzak have regularly been involved in tough, gruelling three-set battles this season. Given that trend, this matchup has all the signs of another long contest, with Halys appearing the marginally fitter of the two.

Halys Chases Miami Repeat

  • Halys is aiming to match his Miami best result (4R, 2023).
  • He lost six of his last eight matches vs Top 100 players.
  • Majchrzak has never reached a Masters fourth round.
  • He has won eight of his last 10 matches vs outside Top 100 players.

Halys Stuns Fokina In Miami

Quentin Halys defeated world No. 17 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 7-6, 6-4 to reach the fourth round in Miami. He fired 15 aces and saved both break points he faced.

The Frenchman will be relieved with this run after struggling for consistency, as all nine of his previous tournaments this year ended without multiple wins, including three opening-round exits.

Halys has recorded multiple main-draw wins at Masters level only once before, which came here in Miami in 2023, when he reached the fourth round, his best result at this level.

Majchrzak Gains Needed Confidence

Kamil Majchrzak pulled off back-to-back upsets in Miami, defeating Miomir Kecmanovic 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 and Learner Tien 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. He was broken twice in each match but responded strongly in the deciders.

This is only the second time in his career that he has recorded consecutive main-draw wins at Masters level. His previous run came in Shanghai last year, where he reached this stage.

The results provide a timely confidence boost, as he had managed just two wins across his five tournaments following his quarterfinal run in Brisbane earlier this season.

Verdict

Backing over 2.5 sets looks the clear direction, with Halys to win and Halys to win 2-1 also making plenty of sense here.
