Wide receiver coach Ricky Proehl took over from Anthony Becht in the offseason, and he enjoyed a winning debut a week ago.
St Louis were made to work hard for the victory at home, but they put up 10 unanswered points in the second half to earn a 16-10 win over the defending champion DC Defenders.

Dallas go into their second game of the campaign looking to build on the Texas Showdown victory over Houston.
The Renegades entered the UFL as champions of the XFL, but struggled in their debut campaign in the new league as they won just five times to miss out on the playoffs.
Rick Neuheisel replaced Bob Stoops as head coach ahead of the 2026 campaign, and he made the surprise decision to start Austin Reed ahead of Luis Perez in Week1.
It was a decision that paid off spectacularly though, as the young quarterback led Dallas to a 36-17 victory over Houston.
Verdict
This St Louis defense is going to pose more of a challenge for Austin Reed than Houston’s did, but we like what we saw from the young QB in Week 1.
We also expect this Renegades defense to be one of the very best in the league this season, so we like Dallas’ chances of making it back-to-back wins.
