Alexander Volkanovski Form
Alexander Volkanovski’s win streak has been going on for so long that you would be forgiven for thinking that he has never lost, but he has.
That rare defeat came way back in May 2013 and since that night he has taken his game to a whole new level.
The 32-year-old Australian has reeled off 19 consecutive victories with nine of them coming under the UFC banner.
In late 2018 he was paired with Chad Mendes and took out the perennial contender insider two rounds to claim his first major scalp.
When he bested Hall of Fame-bound Jose Aldo several months later he was rewarded with a crack at the featherweight crown.
Then champion Max Holloway was looking pretty unstoppable, but Volkanovski shocked the world by earning the nod after a five-round scrap.
Although the rematch was an even closer affair, two out of the three judges decided that the Aussie had done enough to retain his belt.
There was some controversy surrounding his success against Holloway, but the fact he was even able to compete with ‘Blessed’ for 10 rounds confirmed that Volkanovski is a high-level talent.
Brian Ortega Form
After false-starting in his UFC debut in July 2014, Ortega swiftly established himself as one to watch in the lower weight classes.
He tapped out and then knocked out a couple of experienced campaigners in Diego Brandao and Clay Guida.
His stock continued to grow when he submitted Renato Moicano and Cub Swanson in 2017, and he then ruthlessly dispatched former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar in March 2018.
But to say his meteoric rise was brought to a sudden and violent halt would be a gigantic understatement.
Ortega was completely outmatched in his first shot at becoming a UFC champion. He was decimated for four rounds by Max Holloway before the doctor pulled him from the fight.
It would be almost two years before Ortega returned to action, but he finally did last October.
He looked great in a decision win over leading contender Chan Sung Jung, AKA ‘The Korean Zombie’.
‘T-City’ put on a striking show to earn favour from the judges, but has he improved enough to the point where he can knock Volkanovski off his throne?

Verdict
2020 Ortega looked better than 2018 Ortega, but in Volkanovski he is fighting a completely different breed of fighter.
Volkanovski is relentless – he pressures his opponent until they mentally break or physically break, and he could do that here.
