Amanda Serrano vs Nina Meinke Preview & Picks
Amanda Serrano is tipped to retain her world titles on points.
Serrano is levels above challenger Nina Meinke and is expected to outclass her, but it has been a long time since ‘The Real Deal’ stopped an opponent.
- Amanda Serrano’s last 7 fights have gone the distance
- Amanda Serrano has not knocked out an opponent since March 2021
- Nina Meinke has gone the distance in each of her last 6 fights
- 2 of Nina Meinke’s 3 defeats have been by decision
Amanda Serrano Form
Amanda Serrano is the defending WBA, IBF and WBO women’s featherweight champion with a record of 46-2-1 (30 KOs).
Serrano is a legend of women’s boxing and has been on a four-fight win streak since losing her huge lightweight world title fight with Katie Taylor via split decision.
She returned to the featherweight division after that loss and immediately returned to winning ways.
‘The Real Deal’ beat Sarah Mahfoud via unanimous decision to retain her WBC, WBO and IBO titles, while also adding the IBF and inaugural Ring Magazine belts.
Serrano then added the WBA title in February 2023 beating Erika Cruz on points to become the undisputed queen of the featherweight division.
She successfully defended that crown twice before the end of last year, earning unanimous decision wins over Heather Hardy and Danila Ramos.
Nina Meinke Form
Nina Meinke is a former European women’s featherweight champion with a record of 18-3 (3 KOs).
Meinke comes into this fight looking to become a world featherweight champion at the second attempt.
‘The Brave’ too has shared a ring with Katie Taylor, losing via seventh round TKO in April 2017, and since that night she has won five of her seven fights.
She stopped Grecia Nova in two rounds to rebound from the loss to Taylor, and then beat Vissia Trovato via unanimous decision before losing to Elina Tissen via a split verdict.
Meinke rebounded immediately by beating Lucie Selackova via unanimous decision, and earned a world title fight when she backed that up with points wins over Helene Lanscombe and Edina Kiss.
However, her quest to become a world champion ended in disappointment in April 2022, when she lost to Sarah Mahfoud via unanimous decision.
Verdict
Amanda Serrano is clearly the better fighter and this is likely to be a routine defence.
However, it has been a long time since we saw Serrano finish an opponent, so we could see this one go the distance.
