Dillian Whyte vs Jermaine Franklin Preview & Picks

Dillian Whyte is tipped to win this fight by knockout.

Whyte is an experienced campaigner who has fought and beat some of the division’s top fighters.

Jermaine Franklin, meanwhile, has been inactive in recent years and has not fought at this level.

Whyte is backed to break Franklin down over the first half of the fight and finish him in the second half.

  • Dillian Whyte is 12-2 in his last 14 fights
  • Dillian Whyte’s only losses have come to past or future world champions
  • Each of Dillian Whyte’s last 3 fights have not gone the distance
  • 18 of Dillian Whyte’s 27 career wins have come by KO/TKO

Dillian Whyte Form

Dillian Whyte has lost two of his last three fights, but both came against notable opposition.

Whyte went on an 11-fight win streak between June 2016 and December 2019 but was made to wait for a heavyweight title shot.

That run included a decision win against former WBO title-holder Joseph Parker and a decision victory over dangerous and often-avoided Oscar Rivas.

His decision to stay active while waiting for his shot proved costly though, when he was knocked out by Alexander Povetkin in the summer of 2020.

Whyte had been in control of the contest until he was floored in the fifth round by the Russian veteran.

He gained his revenge the following March though, taking out Povetkin in the fourth round to get back on track.

That finally landed the 34-year-old a crack at Tyson Fury at Wembley Stadium in April of this year, but he was no match for the WBC and Ring Magazine champion.

Whyte was knocked out in the sixth round as his career record dropped to 27-3 (18 KOs), with one No Contest.

Jermaine Franklin Form

Jermaine Franklin has compiled a perfect 21-0 (14 KOs) while fighting on his home soil.

However, the 29-year-old American has not fought any notable names and just spent almost three years on the shelf.

Franklin rattled off 20 straight victories as his stock grew between April 2015 and October 2019.

However, after beating Pavel Sour by decision in October 2019 he did not fight again until May of this year.

In his return Franklin faced 46-year-old Rodney Moore, who was on a four-fight losing streak that had dropped his record to 20-22-2.

Franklin knocked out Moore in the fifth round of that bout to improve to 21-0.
