Mauricio Lara (26-2-1, 19 KOs) defends his WBA featherweight title against Leigh Wood (26-3, 16 KOs) at the OA Arena in Manchester, England on Saturday, May 27.

Lara and Wood are meeting for the second time this year, having fought back in February. On that night Lara travelled to Wood’s hometown of Nottingham, England to dethrone him with a seventh-round knockout success.
That victory extend Lara’s unbeaten run to 15 fights – a sequence that included another famous win for him on English soil. The Mexican star travelled to London in February 2021 and became the first man to beat British ace Josh Warrington, stopping him in the ninth round.
The rematch ended in disappointment as an accidental clash of heads in the second round resulted in a technical draw, and Lara will be hoping this rematch with Wood will have a much decisive outcome.
Wood, of course, will have his sights set on regaining the WBA title. The English fighter enjoyed a late career surge that propelled him to a world title, but his reign at the top was a brief one and he will be desperate to get his revenge.
So will Lara knock out Wood for the second time and return to Mexico still a world champion, or will Wood record the biggest victory of his career to become a two-time WBA featherweight champion?
