Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Montreal Alouettes Preview & Picks

Hamilton are tipped to cover as they run out winners in Montreal.

The Tiger-Cats offense has largely been unstoppable in recent weeks, and if they get rolling Montreal are unlikely to keep up with a backup quarterback at the controls.

  • Hamilton Tiger-Cats are 4-1 in their last 5 road games
  • Montreal Alouettes are on a 4-game losing run
  • Hamilton beat Montreal by 18 points when the teams met on June 27
  • The Over cashed in the previous meeting this season

Head To Head

  • Montreal Alouettes lead the series 9-1 since August 2022
  • Hamilton Tiger-Cats won 35-17 when the two teams last met on June 27

Hamilton Tiger-Cats Form

Hamilton head to Montreal in need of a victory, having now lost each of their last three games to fall to 6-5.

The Tiger-Cats kicked off the campaign with back-to-back defeats, but finally got the ball rolling when they returned from an early-season bye.

They ended June with a 35-17 win over Montreal, and that proved to be the start of a six-game tear that saw them beat Toronto 51-38, before winning consecutive meetings with Ottawa, 23-20 at home and 30-15 on the road.

Hamilton remained on the road for their next two games and downed the BC Lions 37-33 and Edmonton 28-24, only to see their streak end with a 41-38 overtime loss to the Lions.

The Tiger-Cats then failed to issue a quick response as they lost 29-9 at Saskatchewan and 35-33 at home to Toronto.

Montreal Alouettes Form

Montreal also enter this matchup in need of a victory, having now lost each of their last four games.

The Alouettes raced out of the blocks as they beat defending champions Toronto 28-10 in their opener, and backed that up with two more wins.

Their form dipped before the bye as they lost back-to-back games, but when they returned to action they appeared to get back on track by beating Toronto 26-25 and Calgary 23-21.

Montreal have not won since however, with a 34-6 blowout defeat to Saskatchewan sparking this four-game skid.

The Alouettes then fell 23-22 at home to Edmonton, 36-18 on the road at the BC Lions, and 26-13 when they entertained Winninpeg.

Verdict

Both teams are in poor form heading into this, but Hamilton offer more reasons for optimism.

The offense has largely been rolling over the past several weeks and they do boast one win over Montreal already this season.
