Montreal Alouettes at Calgary Stampeders Preview & Picks
Montreal are backed to cover as they end their losing skid.
The Alouettes have been on a rough run, but those defeats all came against the cream of the crop in the CFL.
- Montreal Alouettes are 6-0 against teams with a losing record
- Montreal are 5-1-0 ATS in their 6 games against teams below .500
- Calgary Stampeders are 2-6 in their last 8 games
- The Under cashed in the previous meeting this season
Head To Head
- Calgary Stampeders lead the series 14-9 since 2010
- Montreal Alouettes won 25-18 when the teams last met on July 31
Montreal Alouettes Form
Montreal enter this game looking to snap a four-game losing skid that has put their playoff push in jeopardy.
The Alouettes opened the season with back-to-back wins, but when the standard of opposition improved their form dropped.
They lost 17-3 to Winnipeg, 35-19 at BC and 35-27 to Toronto, before turning it around after their second bye week.
Montreal won four consecutive games to get back on track, only to see their form collapse once again during another tough run.
The Alouettes lost 47-17 at Winnipeg and 34-25 to BC, before suffering back-to-back defeats to Toronto, losing 39-10 on the road and 23-20 at home.
Calgary Stampeders Form
Calgary enter this game on the back of their ninth defeat of the season, which dropped them to 4-9.
The Stampeders opened with a defeat and have struggle for consistency ever since, failing to string together back-to-back wins.
Their worst run of form came in August as they lost three consecutive games, losing 37-9 at BC, 19-18 to Winnipeg and 39-31 at Toronto.
Calgary were able to snap that losing sequence with a 35-31 win against Edmonton at the start of September, but they failed to back that up.
The Stampeders went out on the road to face Edmonton again a week later, and this time they were beaten 25-23.
Verdict
Montreal are the better team and have only come up short against the CFL’s finest, so we are confident that they will bounce back here.
