The Blue Bombers, a fixture in the Grey Cup in recent years, made a flying start to the season as they reeled off three consecutive victories.
They cooled off to lose each of their next three though, and they have struggled to find any consistency since then.
Winnipeg halted that skid with a 40-31 win over Toronto, and then rebounded from a 28-27 defeat in Calgary with wins over Ottawa, 30-27, and Montreal, 26-13.
The Blue Bombers failed to make it three-in-a-row however, losing 34-30 in Saskatchewan, and that was following by a 21-13 home defeat to the Roughriders and a 32-21 loss in Hamilton.
Ottawa Redblacks Form
Ottawa enter this game on the back of their third defeat in four games, which has left them with a 4-9 record.
The Redblacks dropped their first two games of the season, before finally getting off the mark with a surprise 20-12 win in Calgary.
They failed to back that up though and lost four consecutive games to go into their first bye week at 1-6.
Ottawa rallied when they returned to action, beating Calgary 31-11 and Toronto 46-42, but they failed to maintain that momentum as they lost 30-27 in Winnipeg and 30-20 to Edmonton.
The Redblacks avoided a third straight loss by beating the BC Lions 34-33 at home, only to then lose the immediate rematch on the road, 38-27.
Verdict
Winnipeg have underwhelmed so far this season, but they are the better of these two teams.
The Blue Bombers need this win to kick-start their postseason quest and we are backing them to get it.
