Columbus Crew vs Atlanta United Previews & Picks - Atlanta to win yet again in the MLS

Columbus Crew are looking for only their second win of the season as they host a high-flying Atlanta United side that are hoping to move even further clear at the top of the table with another win. 

Last term, Columbus Crew secured a 2-1 win on the road before then battling to a point as they secured a 2-2 draw with their opponents back in August of 2022. 

Columbus Crew have struggled for consistency this season, with a single win coming from their opening four matches. 

The campaign is still very young at this point, but the Crew need to find a way to score goals more consistently whilst also keeping the ball out of their own net. So far, they have kept a single clean sheet, while they have only scored five times in four games. 

A 4-1 loss to Philadelphia Union in their opening game was disappointing, but not overly surprising considering they were playing such a good side on the road. A 2-0 win over DC United saw the Crew pick up their first points for the season, but they were then held to a 1-1 draw by Toronto FC before losing to the New York Red Bulls. Four points from a possible 12 is disappointing, and they are already six points short of the Eastern Conference leaders. 

Atlanta United have enjoyed their start to the 2023 season, and they are one of only two sides in the Eastern Conference that are yet to taste defeat. 

Four games have come and gone, with United beating San Jose Earthquakes, Charlotte and Portland Timbers, while they shared the points with Toronto FC in their second game.

Their impressive run means they sit a point clear of New England Revolution at the top, and they will fancy their chances of making it three wins in a row and five without defeat this season.
