Arnold Palmer Invitational Preview & Picks
The world's best-ranked golfers have assembled in Orlando to compete in the Arnold Palmer Invitational this weekend. Who will emerge as the winner from this star-studded field?

Scottie Scheffler returns to Bay Hill Club & Lodge to defend his title after victory in 2022.

Past and present major winners in the field include Keegan Bradley, Stewart Cink, Jason Day, Matt Fitzpatrick, Lucas Glover, Padraig Harrington, Zach Johnson, Shane Lowry, Hideki Matsuyama, Rory McIlroy, Francesco Molinari, Collin Morikawa, Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, Adam Scott, Webb Simpson, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Gary Woodland.

These are our four selections that could win the tournament this weekend.

Jon Rahm

Jon Rahm has been performing at the highest level on the PGA Tour, racking up numerous titles and reclaiming the world number one ranking.

Rahm started his 2022/23 season by placing T4 at the CJ Cup in South Carolina, T8 at the Hero World Challenge, victory at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, victory at the American Express before finishing T7 at the Farmers Insurance Open, 3rd at the Phoenix Open and winning the Genesis Invitational.

Before that, the 28-year-old had placed T5 at the FedEx St Jude Invitational, T8 at the BMW Championship, T15 at the Tour Championship, and T2 at the BMW PGA Championship before back-to-back- titles on the DP World Tour at the Open De Espana, the DP World Tour Championship.

He made his debut at this event in 2022, placing T17 overall.

There is little doubt the Spaniard is the best golfer in the world at present. Can anyone stop red-hot Rahm?

Tony Finau

Tony Finau missed the cut in his opening tournament of the new PGA Tour season but has not looked back since, accumulating solid results, including a victory.

The 33-year-old missed the cut at the World Wide Technology Championship before winning the Cadence Bank Houston Open and placing 7th at the Hero World Challenge, T7 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, T16 at the American Express, T9 at the Farmers Insurance Open, T14 at the WM Phoenix Open, and T20 at the Genesis Invitational.

Before that, the American golfer had won two consecutive trophies at the 3M Open and Rocket Mortgage Classic, including finishing T5 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T28 at the BMW Championship, and 9th at the Tour Championship.

The world's number 12 ranked player has contested the Arnold Palmer Invitational on four occasions, with results of MC in 2015, T43 in 2016, T28 in 2017, and MC in 2020.

Finau is holding form and can make the frame in Orlando this weekend.

Max Homa

Max Homa got his new season on the PGA Tour off to the perfect start, defending his title at the Fortinet Championship.

The 32-year-old then placed T20 at the Shriners Children's Open, T23 at the ZOZO Championship, 17th at the Hero World Challenge, T3 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, victory at the Farmers Insurance Open, T39 at the WM Phoenix Open, and runner-up at the Genesis Invitational in his subsequent seven tournaments.

The world's number eight-ranked golfer has featured three times at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, placing T24 in 2020, T10 in 2021, and T17 in 2022.

Homa has already lifted two trophies this season and came close to securing his third last time out.

Jason Day

Jason Day continued his impressive start to the 2022\23 season on the PGA Tour with another top-ten finish at the recent Genesis Invitational, placing T9 overall.

Before that, the Australian golfer finished T8 at the Shriners Children's Open, T11 at the CJ Cup, T21 at the World Wide Technology Championship, T16 at the Cadence Bank Houston Open, MC at the RSM Classic, T18 at the American Express, T7 at the Farmers Insurance Open, and T5 at the WM Phoenix Open.

The 35-year-old has a solid record at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, including winning the event. He finished T17 in 2015, victory in 2016, T23 in 2017, T22 in 2018, W/D in 2020, and T31 in 2021 in his last six appearances.

Day has been playing excellent golf and will fancy his chances to claim his second title at Bay Hill come Sunday.

Verdict

Rahm is standing head and shoulders above everyone else on the PGA Tour.

Finau can convert his consistent results into victory at Bay Hill.

Homa has the form to pick up another winner's cheque at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Day has done nothing wrong and has the game to come out on top in Orlando this weekend.
