That trend continued for Houston when they returned home to face Baltimore and lost 8-7 and 9-5 before winning 2-1.
The Astros could not avoid being swept when they hosted Kansas City however, losing 7-5, 3-2 and 6-5.
Seattle Mariners Form
Seattle came into this series on a three-game losing skid, having blown hot and cold in recent weeks.
The Mariners went on a four-game losing skid earlier this month, losing 7-4, 7-5 and 6-3 in Tampa, before returning home for an 8-5 defeat to the Los Angeles Angels.
They won the next two meetings with the Angels, 8-0 and 3-2, only to suffer three consecutive defeats to the Los Angeles Dodgers, 6-3, 6-2 and 6-1.
Seattle stopped the rot with a three-game sweep of Oakland, beating the A’s 5-0, 7-2 and 6-3 on the road.
However, the Mariners failed to follow that up at Texas, as they were beaten 8-5, 2-0 and 9-8 to the Rangers.
Verdict
Seattle continued to ride a rollercoaster of form, but they have largely had Houston’s number this season so we expected a response to last night’s loss.
