The Phillies went into the mid-season pause on the back of an 18-3 home defeat to Oakland, and when they returned to action they were beaten 8-7 and 4-1 in Pittsburgh.
They avoided being swept, winning the final meeting 6-0, but failed to build on that as they headed to Minnesota to sandwich a 3-0 victory with 7-2 and 5-4 defeats.
Philadelphia repeated that pattern when they returned home to face Cleveland, losing 3-1 and 4-3 either side of an 8-0 win.
The Phillies were then swept at home by the New York Yankees, losing 14-4, 7-6 and 6-5.
Seattle Mariners Form
Seattle come into this series on the back of a defeat, but they have won four of their last six matchups.
The Mariners lost five consecutive games around the All-Star break, a run that was ended by a 6-4 win at home to Houston.
They failed to build on that victory though, as they were swept in a three-game home series by the Los Angeles Angels, losing 3-1, 5-1 and 2-1.
Seattle fared better when they went out on the road though, as they visited Chicago and swept the White Sox thanks to 10-0, 6-3 and 6-3 victories.
The Mariners had less success in Boston but did manage one win, sandwiching a 10-6 victory over the Red Sox with 14-7 and 3-2 defeats.

Philadelphia have a great recent record against Seattle and starter Tyler Phillips has been reliable this season.
