Texas then followed that up with a series sweep of Baltimore, recording 3-2 and 11-8 wins on the road before returning home for a 7-1 victory.
The Rangers took their playoff win streak to seven games in Houston, beating the Astros 2-0 and 5-4, but left themselves on the brink of an exit after 8-5, 10-3 and 5-4 defeats at home.
They stayed alive on Sunday though, blazing to a 9-2 win in Houston to set up this Game 7 showdown.

Houston know it is winner-takes-all as they prepare to face Texas in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
The Astros went 90-72 in the regular season to pip Texas to the AL West title, earning them bye in the postseason and home field advantage.

Houston wrapped things up on the road though, travelling to Minnesota and winning the next two games, 9-1 and 3-2.
The Astros failed to follow up those wins in the first two games of this series though, suffering 2-0 and 5-4 defeats to Texas.
They rebounded on the road with 8-5, 10-3 and 5-4 wins in Texas, but passed up on the chance to clinch at home when they lost 9-2 on Sunday night.
