Carlos Ulberg Form
Carlos Ulberg is the number three ranked light-heavyweight contender with a professional record of 12-1 (7 KOs, 1 Sub).
Ulberg earned his UFC contract when he knocked out Bruno Oliveira in the first round of their fight on the Dana White Contender Series in November 2020.
The former kickboxer suffered a nightmare debut as he was knocked out in the second round by Kennedy Nzechukwu, but he has rebounded emphatically from that loss.
The 34-year-old New Zealander got back on track with a points win over Fabio Cherant, and backed that up with a 75-second knockout of Tafon Nchukwi.
Ulberg knocked out his next two opponents too, stopping Nicolae Negumereanu and Ihor Potieria in the first round, before scoring his first submission win by tapping out Jung Da-Un in the third.
‘Black Jag’ then stepped up the quality of the opposition last year, but the wins kept coming as he knocked out Alonzo Menifield in 12 seconds, and then beat former title contender Volkan Oezdemir on points.
He took his win streak to eight fights in March as he travelled to London to beat ex-light-heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz on points.
Dominick Reyes Form
Dominick Reyes is the number seven ranked light-heavyweight contender with a career record of 15-4 (10 KOs, 2 Subs).
Reyes debuted in the UFC back in June 2017 and made an immediate impact with a string of first-round stoppage successes.
He knocked out Joachim Christensen, submitted Jeremy Kimball and then dispatched Jared Cannonier with strikes.
The 35-year-old’s run of stoppage wins ended after that, but he continue his climb up the ladder with decision victories over Ovince Saint Preux and Volkan Oezdemir.
Reyes then earned himself a shot at the 205lb crown with a 103-second knockout of former middleweight champion Chris Weidman in October 2019.
‘The Devastator’ challenged dominant champion Jon Jones in February 2020, and although many felt he had done more than enough to win on points, the judges awarded the fight to ‘Bones’.
Reyes challenged for the title again later that year, but this time his bid for gold ended in a second-round knockout loss to Jan Blachowicz.
He dropped his next two fights too, as he was knocked out by both Jiri Prochazka and Ryan Spann, but he has got his career back on track over the past 18 months with three straight wins.
The American has knocked out Dustin Jacoby in the first, Anthony Smith in the second, and Nikita Krylov in the first.
Verdict
Dominick Reyes has been in devastating form recently, but Carlos Ulberg can halt his resurgence.
Ulberg is backed to using his elite kickboxing skills to work for an opening and knock out Reyes.
