Kai Kara-France Form

Kai Kara-France is the #3 ranked flyweight contender with a record of 24-10, 1 NC (11 KO/TKO, 3 Sub).

Kara-France debuted in the UFC in December 2018 and quickly reeled off three consecutive victories.

He beat both Elias Garcia and Mark De La Rosa by unanimous decision either side of a split decision win over Raulian Paiva.

The 30-year-old New Zealander’s streak was ended by a unanimous decision defeat to Brandon Moreno, although he bounced back in his next outing to beat Tyson Nam on points.

Kara-France failed to follow that up as he was submitted in his next outing by Brandon Royval, but his response was strong.

He knocked out both Rogerio Botorin and Cody Garbrandt in the first round, before besting Askar Askarov by unanimous decision to secure a shot at the interim title.

Kara-France produced a strong showing, but was ultimate knocked out in the third round by Brandon Moreno.

Amir Albazi Form

Amir Albazi is the #7 ranked flyweight with a professional record of 16-1 (5 KO/TKO, 9 Sub).

Albazi bounced back from his first career defeat in 2019 to land himself a UFC contract in 2022.

He made his debut by submitting Malcolm Gordon in the first round, and then followed that up with a unanimous decision victory over Zhalgas Zhumagulov.

The 29-year-old Iraqi made it three-in-a-row when he submitted Francisco Figueiredo in the first round in August of last year.

Albazi then took his win streak to four fights last December, showcasing his improving stand-up skills with a third-round stoppage of Alessandro Costa.

Verdict

This feels like a “pick ‘em” fight between two potential title contenders.

Kara-France has more experience in big fights, so we give him a slight edge in a fight that is likely to need the judges.
