The Pacers, who went 47-35 in the regular season, made a losing start to the postseason as they were beaten 109-94 in Milwaukee.
They came roaring back though, beating the Bucks 125-108 on the road before returning home to win back-to-back games, 121-118 and 126-113.
Indiana were unable to make it four-in-a-row to clinch the series, losing 115-92 in Milwaukee, but they did get the job done in Game 6, running out 120-98 winners on their home court.
The Pacers afailed to follow that up in the opening game of this series though, as they were beaten 121-117 in New York on Monday.
New York Knicks Form
New York enter the second game of this postseason series having won back-to-back matchups.
The Knicks, who compiled a 50-32 record to finish second in the Eastern Conference, took on Philadelphia in the first round and made a strong start.
They won back-to-back home games, 111-104 and 104-101, and then bounced back from a 125-114 road defeat with a 97-92 success in Philly.
New York failed to wrap up the series at home as they lost 112-106, but they rebounded immediately with a 118-115 victory on the road that secured a 4-2 series win.
The Knicks then made it back-to-back postseason wins on Monday as they opened this series with a 121-117 home win over Indiana.
Verdict
New York drew first blood in the series, but Indiana once again covered the spread.
