Minnesota Timberwolves Form
Minnesota go into their second road game of the the Western Conference Finals knowing that one more defeat will end their season.
The Timberwolves, who went 56-26 in the regular season, cruised through the first round as they swept Phoenix in four games.
They made a hot start to the second round too, recording back-to-back wins at defending champions Denver, only to then lose their first two home games of the series.
Minnesota’s losing skid reached three games with a 112-97 loss on the road, but they responded with a 115-70 win at home and 98-90 victory in Denver to eliminate the Nuggets.
It is now the Timberwolves who stand on the brink of elimination though, having lost 108-105 and 109-108 at home before heading to Dallas for a 116-107 defeat.
Dallas Mavericks Form
Dallas go into tonight's game with the opportunity to wrap up the Western Conference Finals and set up an NBA Finals showdown with Boston.
The Mavericks, who went 50-32 in the regular season, had to recover from losing their opening game in each of the first two rounds to make it to the Western Conference Finals.
They bounced back from losing Game 1 at the LA Clippers by winning four of the next five games to progress to the second round.
Dallas repeated that in the second round too, as they were beaten in the first game at Oklahoma City, only to respond with four wins in five games to seal another 4-2 series win.
The Mavericks have had no such issues in this series with Minnesota and now stand one win away from the NBA Finals, having backed up 108-105 and 109-108 road wins with a 116-107 victory at home.
Verdict
Dallas have taken command of this series on the back of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
The Mavericks' star men are producing star performances, while Minnesota are not getting enough from a couple of their key players.
