They had gone into that match on the back of a pre-season schedule that saw them lose four of their five games.
Minnesota began that run of games with a 126-116 victory in Denver, but failed to back that up as they lost their next four in a row.
The Timberwolves fell 135-134 in overtime at home to Indiana, before heading out on the road to lose 100-95 in overtime in New York, 126-120 at Chicago and 126-110 in Philadelphia.
Los Angeles Lakers Form
Los Angeles enter this matchup looking to rebound from an opening night defeat before they head out on the road for the first time.
The Lakers were in action on the NBA’s opening night and they fell to a 119-109 defeat without the injured LeBron James.
They had gone into that matchup on the back of a pre-season campaign that saw them lose five times in six games.
Los Angeles lost 103-81 to Phoenix and 111-103 to Golden State, before finally notching a pre-season victory with a 126-118 success at home to the Warriors.
That proved to be the Lakers’ only pre-season win though, as they then lost 113-104 in Phoenix, 121-94 to Dallas and 117-116 to Sacramento.

Luka Doncic’s monster effort on opening night was in vain, and the Lakers’ inability to back him up in LeBron’s absence is a concern.
