There can be only one winner of the NBA Rookie of the Year award for 2022/23, according to the bookmakers.
Paolo Banchero, taken first overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, has made a major impact during his first season with the Orlando Magic.
While playoff basketball is highly unlikely for the Florida franchise, there have been plenty of bright spots for them over the course of the season so far, especially the performances of Banchero.
he 20-year-old forward has produced some big performances against some of the best teams in the entire league, especially the Boston Celtics.
In four meetings with last season’s beaten NBA finalists, Banchero has put up a combined 97 points, 21 rebounds and 13 assists, playing a key role in the Magic upsetting the Celtics in three of those four encounters.
He had a double double in his first meeting with the Milwaukee Bucks, putting up 20 points and 12 rebounds, alongside seven assists, while his 29 points and nine rebounds played a key role in Orlando knocking off Philadelphia on the road in late January.
All of this has put him top five among rookies in scoring, rebounding and assists at the time of writing, so it is no shock to see him miles ahead of his nearest rivals in the NBA Rookie of the Year betting.
