Miami head out on the road having resurrected their college football playoff hopes with back-to-back wins to improve to 8-2.
The Hurricanes opened the season with a 27-24 win over rivals Notre Dame, and backed that up with non-conference wins over Bethune-Cookman, 45-3, and South Florida, 49-12.
They then took down Florida at home, 26-7, before kicking off their ACC schedule with a 28-22 victory at Florida State.
However, Miami’s playoff hopes then took a massive hit when they sandwiched a 42-7 blowout of Stanford with defeats to Louisville, 24-21, and SMU, 26-20.
The Hurricanes have kept themselves in the hunt in the past couple of weeks though, backing up a 38-10 win over Syracuse with a 41-7 rout of NC State.

Virginia Tech enter this matchup having lost back-to-back games to fall to 3-7 this season.
The Hokies opened with back-to-back defeats to SEC opposition, losing 24-11 to South Carolina and 44-20 at home to Vandebilt.
They then suffered a shock 45-26 defeat to Old Dominion, before finally getting off the mark with a 38-6 win over Wofford and a 23-21 victory at NC State.
Virginia Tech failed to keep that run going as they lost 30-23 at home to Wake Forest, and that was followed by a 35-20 defeat at Georgia Tech.
The Hokies avoided a third straight loss by beating California 42-34, but they quickly returned to losing ways as they fell 28-16 to Louisville and 34-14 at Florida State.

Miami appear to have steadied the ship with a couple of convincing wins, but the pressure remains firmly only them.
