Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks Preview & Picks
Los Angeles are tipped to cover as a betting underdog in the NFC Championship.
Both regular season meetings between these two division rivals were settled by the finest of margins, and the recent trend has been for the underdog to cover when the Rams and Seahawks go head-to-head.
With Matthew Stafford in MVP-winning form, the visitors can at the very least take this right down to the wire.
- The betting underdog has covered in 7 of the last 8 meetings
- Los Angeles Rams are 8-2-0 ATS in the previous 10 meetings
- Los Angeles Rams are 3-2 in their last 5 visits to Seattle
- The Under has cashed in 7 of the previous 10 meetings
- The Under has hit in 3 of Seattle’s previous 5 games
Head To Head
- Seattle Seahawks lead the all-time series 29-28
- Seattle Seahawks won 38-37 in overtime when the two teams last met on December 18
Los Angeles Rams Form
Los Angeles head to Seattle having won back-to-back road games in the playoffs to take their season record to 14-5.
The Rams got off to a solid start to the season as they won five of their first seven games before the bye, which they entered on the back of road wins at Baltimore, 17-3, and Jacksonville, 35-7.
When they returned to action they reeled off four more wins as part of a season-best streak, beating New Orleans 34-10, San Francisco 42-26, Seattle 21-19 and Tampa Bay 34-7.
Los Angeles’ run was finally ended by a 31-28 defeat in Carolina, but they rebounded by beating Arizona 45-17 on the road and Detroit 41-34 at home, only to then drop back-to-back games, 38-37 in overtime in Seattle and 27-24 in regulation at Atlanta.
The Rams avoided a third straight loss though, as they wrapped up the regular season with a 37-20 victory over Arizona.
They then booked their place in the NFC Championship Game by backing up a 34-31 victory in Carolina with a 20-17 overtime success in Chicago.
Seattle Seahawks Form
Seattle come into the NFC Championship Game on their best run of the season, having won each of their last eight games to take their season tally to 15-3.
The Seahawks opened the season with a defeat, but rallied over the next six weeks to enter the bye week in late October with a 5-2 record.
They returned to action with a 38-14 victory at Washington, and then downed Arizona 44-22 at home before suffering a 21-19 defeat at the Los Angeles Rams.
Seattle have not lost since though, sparking this eight-game win streak with a 30-24 victory in Tennessee, which was followed by a 26-0 shutout of Minnesota and a 37-9 blowout of Atlanta on the road.
The Seahawks then won back-to-back games at home, beating Indianapolis 18-16 and the Los Angeles Rams 38-37 in overtime, before wrapping up the regular season with road wins at Carolina, 27-10, and San Francisco, 13-3.
That secured a first-round bye in the playoffs, and when Seattle returned last weekend they did it in emphatic fashion, blasting San Francisco 41-6 in the Division round.
Verdict
Seattle dominated San Francisco last time out and sent a message to their rivals in the race to the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
However, the two regular season meetings went right down to the wire as the Rams defense was able to make life difficult for Sam Darnold, and we expect to see more of the same here.
Therefore we recommend taking Los Angeles and the free points in the NFC Championship Game.
