New York enter this Monday night matchup on a miserable run of form, having now lost their last six games to see their record fall to 2-10.
The Giants opened with back-to-back defeats on the road, losing 21-6 at Washington, and 40-37 in overtime at Dallas, and then dropped their home opener to Kansas City, 22-9.
They finally got off the mark with a 21-18 upset of the Los Angeles Chargers, and then responded to a 26-14 loss in New Orleans with a 34-17 upset of Philadelphia at home.
New York failed to follow up that victory though, as they then went out on the road to lose 33-32 in Denver and 38-20 at Philadelphia, before falling 34-24 at home to San Francisco.
The Giants then blew a late lead to lose 24-20 in Chicago, and that was followed by 27-20 loss at home to Green Bay and a 34-27 overtime defeat in Detroit.
New England Patriots Form
New England go into the final game of Week 13 having reeled off nine consecutive victories to reach 10-2 and lead the race for the number one seeding in the AFC.
The Patriots got off to a slow start as they sandwiched a 33-27 win in Miami with defeats to Las Vegas, 20-13, and Pittsburgh, 21-14.
They have been on a tear ever since though, sparking this nine-game surge with a 42-13 blowout of Carolina at home.
New England then backed that up on the road as they beat Buffalo 23-20, New Orleans 25-19 and Tennessee 31-13, before returning home to down Cleveland 32-13 and Atlanta 24-23.
The Patriots then took their streak to nine games as they downed Tampa Bay 28-23 on the road, beat the New York Jets 27-24 at home, and won 26-20 in Cincinnati.
Verdict
New England may be the hotter hand, but their spread record is uninspiring, especially when favoured by more than a touchdown.
New York, on the other hand, have taken their last three opponents to the wire and continue to fight despite their 2-10 record, so give us the Giants and the free points on Monday night.
